GÜNTER WERMEKES is a well known goldsmith and designer in Germany.- Wermekes design is primarely made of stainless steel, mostly in combination with diamonds. Since '90 on his own, he is living and working in Kierspe, a little town near Cologne/Düsseldorf.- Starting his career as a designer for jewelry made of stainless steel , he had to prevail against the prejudice, that jewelry has to be made of gold... In the meantime he rarely has to justify 'his' material.- His work is frequently exhibited and collected by leading museums such as the Museum of Art and Craft in Hamburg, the German Goldsmithhouse Hanau, 'Die neue Sammlung' at the Museum for Applied Art in Munich, etc. Since '92, Günter Wermekes also teaches design at the Pforzheim University.- The jewelry shown at this site is only a small profile of his great collection. |
