FLOS was founded in 1962. From that time on names like Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and Afra &Tobia Scarpa are inseparably linked with the italian company. - At Flos, timelessness and innovation are not mutually exclusive. From the very outset the company placed as much value on the use of new technologies and materials as it does on the longevity of its models. This is proved by the fact that you will find a large number of designs from the first production that are still present in the actual Flos catalogue - most of them have advanced to modern classics. |

The re-edition of the 'LUMINATOR' designed by the Castiglioni's in 1954 is a good example fot the timelessness of the Flos products - this floor lamp is still as contemporary and future-oriented as it was 43 years ago.- |

Arc with adjustable dimensions.- Bulb : 1 x 100W opalglass Dimensions : length max. 200 cm - --------------- height 250 cm ....the story behind this design is the fact, that most rooms have the electrical output for a ceiling lamp right in the middle of the ceiling, but most dining tables are not placed in the middle of a room....- Castiglioni was very 'unhappy' because of the cable going from the output to the position where the pendant lamp is fixed to illuminate the table.- For this reason he designed 'ARCO' in 1962 and we think its a great idea even today.- |
